This is at the easternmost portion of the WMA on a slope above an unnamed draw. Just downslope is a chestnut oak/heath forest. This stand appears to be linear at this contour.;This stand is very dry as indicated by the high cover of heaths, especially Kalmia which is typical of this aspect. Browse line is evident. Pinus rigida appears to be the only pine. If fire is suppressed, I assume this area will succeed to oak with less heath cover. There is some scattered black oak.
Representativeness
Very dry, exposed variation on pine-oak/heath forest where Quercus coccinea is the predominant oak. Well represented.
